South Devon College has received the prestigious Investors in People (IIP) Platinum accreditation, the highest level awarded by the people management standard. South Devon College is the only College in England to have achieved Platinum status and this prominent distinction confirms the College’s status as not just a leading Further Education College, but also as a top employer in the country, as it joins the top 7% of accredited organisations across the UK.
The IIP frameworks are the premier endorsement of business quality and efficiency. Successful accreditation against the IIP standard indicates a great employer, an outperforming place to work and a clear commitment to sustainability. The IIP community is made up of over 14,000 organisations across 75 countries worldwide, with only nine having achieved the coveted Platinum status.
Building on its existing Gold accreditation, the College received Platinum as a result of the whole College working to ensure the development and wellbeing of its employees. The quality standard was awarded following rigorous assessment, with two-thirds of the staff contributing fully to an online survey and the College providing numerous pieces of evidence to demonstrate their fulfilment of the exacting criteria which reflects the very latest workplace trends, essential skills and effective structures required to outperform in any industry.
Paul Devoy, Head of Investors in People, said: “We’d like to congratulate South Devon College, Investors in People accreditation is the sign of a great employer, an outperforming place to work and a clear commitment to success. South Devon College should be extremely proud of their achievement.”
Commenting on the award, Dr Karen Stockham, Chair of Governors at South Devon College said, “I am delighted that South Devon College has been recognised as the first and only English College to gain this incredible award. The staff at South Devon College are truly inspirational and this is a reflection on the whole College culture of continuous improvement and support for all of our students and communities.”
