Members of the South Devon Fitness Instructor Academy attended the first Celebration Awards Ceremony at the Carlton Hotel, Torquay.
The event was a great opportunity to showcase the success of this year’s Fitness Academy students. Nominees were selected for categories including Aspiration, Innovation, Support, Progress and Fitness Instructor of the Year.
Recipients of the awards completed a range of qualifications in yoga, teaching Pilates, group indoor cycling, exercise referral, sports massage, leisure management, plus many more.
Jo Boardman, Senior Duty Manager at Newton Abbot Leisure Centre won the Fitness Instructor of the Year Award 2017. The award recognises outstanding achievement and determination. Jo was praised for embracing the learning experience, supporting those around her and gaining new knowledge and skills. She is a very experienced and highly qualified instructor who sought continuous professional development and she focuses on raising the standards in her organisation.
Lynn Squire, Section Head for Sport and Adventure at South Devon College said, “The evening was a huge success and gave the adult students a chance to celebrate their success and enjoy the achievements of the other people they have worked with to gain their professional fitness qualifications. I was incredibly proud of the high standards of the students this year and am confident that they will be driving the fitness industry going forwards.”
