30th March 2017
South Devon College’s first XI football team have, for the first time in our history, reached the National Final of the British Colleges Cup, after a nail biting 4-3 victory over Brockenhurst College yesterday.
In front of a large and excitable crowd, South Devon College players showed enormous spirit to come back from 2-1 and 3-2 down to win in extra time of a pulsating game. Our students showed enormous spirit and resolve against a very good Brockenhurst team. South Devon College equalised in the 90th minute with a top-corner header, to make the scoreline 2-2 and take the game into extra time.
Huge credit goes to the College coaching staff; Chris Todd, Darren Gibson and Kieran Parkin, ably supported by our sports therapy team who have trained and supported the squad of players. South Devon College now travel to Walsall FC stadium to contest the National Final against Wyke College – details to follow.
Well done to everyone involved on a superb success.
