20th March 2017

The Federation of Small Business (FSB) is holding its National Conference at the Riviera International Conference Centre (RICC) in Torquay between the 23rd and 25th of March 2017. This high profile event will attract over 600 FSB members from across the country.

Hosted by Juliet Morris from the BBC, the event will include a rich programme of expert seminars and talks on some of the most important business issues of today, such as: auto enrolment of work place pensions; legal issues; cyber protection; business profiling; apprenticeships; climate change; energy; and reaching new customers. Speakers include leading experts from Google, the Met Office, The Carbon Trust, Legal & General, FSB, and The Pensions Regulator. Headline speakers confirmed for the day include Rt Hon Jeremy Corbyn MP, Leader of HM Opposition and the Labour Party, Rt Hon Greg Clark MP, Secretary of State for Business, Energy and the Industrial Strategy, and Fergal Parkinson – Emmy award winning former BBC correspondent.

Andrew Postlethwaite, FSB Devon Regional Chairman and Organiser, invited South Devon College Catering students to devise a menu for a black tie evening event held as part of the conference, taking place on Friday 24th March 2017. The menu will consist of three courses and will be designed, prepared, cooked and served by the students who will be supported by RICC Executive Chef, Steve Paske. The Training Chefs will be led by South Devon College Chef Lecturer, David Berry.

Alongside the Catering students, South Devon College Business students will be attending to run the College stand and a group of Travel and Tourism students will be helping to run reception. Beauty treatments will also be available courtesy of Beauty Therapies students.
