Students at South Devon College Marine Academy have embarked on an ambitious design and build project of a one man hovercraft. Learners on the Level 3 BTEC Marine Technologies programme have commenced design of the craft using 2D and 3D CAD software.

 

The different stages of the design and build are linked to their curriculum including Design, CAD, Fluid Dynamics and Mechanical Principles. Stages of the process are linked with English and Maths which is embedded into the core curriculum alongside Skills training sessions to develop specialist knowledge.

Following on from the previous Q boat project, This is another example of exciting practical design and build projects that can be achieved at the unique facilities at South Devon College Marine Academy. Expect further updates on this as the build commences on Facebook and the South Devon College website.
