Robin Peters, Proprietor of Teignmouth Tyre and Exhaust Centre and Tony Rothero, proprietor of TJ’s MOT & Autocentre in Paignton, were among the first cohort of learners to achieve the IMI Level 2 Award in MOT Testing (Classes 4 and 7). This qualification is delivered at the South Devon College Automotive Centre, Bradley Lane, Newton Abbot. This new qualification has been introduced to the automotive industry to raise the profile of MOT testers and has been developed for those wishing to take the next step with their career.

Prior to this, Tony had no formal qualification so chose to study the Level 3 ATA Accreditation Course to gain a place on the IMI MOT Testing qualification; this involved a formal demo test with the DVSA in order to become a fully registered MOT tester. Tony said, “I chose to complete these qualifications to progress within my own business and enhance my skills. I have now enrolled on the IMI MOT Test Centre Management Course to advance even further. Developing professionally gives me a sense of security and stability.”
