There are more opportunities than ever to study a degree locally at the University Centre, South Devon College. The higher education provision offers a range of degree programmes, including full honours degrees, which are delivered in partnership with Plymouth University.
There has been a 15% increase in applications from individuals choosing to study a degree with South Devon College, with particular interest in the FdSc Animal Science with progression to the BSc (Hons) Applied Animal Science (1 year top up) and the FdSc Healthcare Practice which also offers progression onto the BSc (Hons) Healthcare Practice (1 year top up).
The South Devon College University Centre continues to develop the courses and pathways on offer to the community it serves, with even more possibilities for the future as the College hopes to secure foundation degree awarding powers.
Places are still available to start during September 2016 on a range of programmes including; FdA Game and Interactive Design, FdSc Computing and FdA Film and Photography. New courses will also be introduced in September 2017, individuals will have the chance to study FdA Digital Marketing, FdSc Marine Technologies, FdSc Health and Wellbeing and FdSc Electronic and Embedded Control Engineering, all subject to approval.
For those learners without the relevant qualifications or experience, South Devon College offer a range of programmes that can prepare individuals for university level study, such as an Access to Higher Education course.
The recent results of the Higher Education Student Perception Questionnaire (SPQ), run annually through Plymouth University, revealed that the overall student satisfaction result for South Devon College was 93.8%, the highest of all Colleges who deliver with Plymouth University. The National Student Survey (NSS) allows undergraduate students to provide honest feedback relating to their learning experience. One student studying the FdA Early Years at South Devon College said, “Support throughout was amazing. The topics were fantastic and really helped me with my practice. The experience and knowledge I gained helped me to secure a job.” An undergraduate on the FdSc Animal Science commented, “Staff are always working towards making us more employable, as well as developing us academically. There is a lot of encouragement to engage with activities outside of our curriculum.”
South Devon College is committed to preparing students for employment, and with expert teaching and support staff it has everything in place to help learners succeed and achieve their goals. The continued growth of the university provision is testament to College’s status as a leading provider of higher education study in the South West. The curriculum is developed with employers to ensure individuals develop relevant skills for the local market.
