English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) students were acknowledged for their commitment and hard work at a presentation at The Imperial Hotel, Torquay.
The students are all staff members from The Imperial Hotel and represent a wide variety of ages and backgrounds including; Thai, Czech, Polish, Italian and Hungarian. They were presented with their certificates following a 6 week training programme, delivered by South Devon College, aimed at improving English as a second language. The Imperial Hotel wanted to provide their employees with both the confidence and opportunity to fulfil their career aspirations without feeling held back by a language barrier.
Victoria Phillips, HR Manager at the Imperial Hotel said: “On behalf of their Managers and the General Manager, Gwyn Gibbons we are so very proud of the learners and feel confident this is the first of many similar natured learning activities we will offer, in addition to our current ESOL programme. For them to achieve a nationally recognised qualification is fantastic and testament to the time invested by Nikki Hayes from South Devon College and the commitment of the learners.”
