South Devon College and Stagecoach continue to offer an exclusive travel pass for students and staff members of the College. The offer provides unlimited bus travel for free or as little as £300 a year. The South Devon College Stagecoach Travel Pass, available directly from the College, enables users to travel not just to College during the week but throughout South Devon at any time, opening doors to work placements, apprenticeships and more.
The offer is a result of the ongoing relationship between the College and Stagecoach and underlines the commitment to removing barriers to learning. Bus travel is free for full-time students with a household income of less than £21,000 a year, and who live more than 2 miles from the College. Chargeable travel passes can be purchased by direct debit over a period of 10 instalments, equating to unlimited travel starting at less than £1 a day – an incredible opportunity for anyone studying at South Devon College.
The offer is not just limited to 16-18 year olds either; anyone studying at the College can apply for the pass, including South Devon High School students aged 14-16. With lower tuition fees, living costs and now travel costs too, university students at the College can receive a first-class degree on their doorstep for a fraction of the cost of other institutions.
With local centres throughout South Devon, the new travel offer will help students access the high quality training available at the College. Whether that’s gaining a professional management qualification at the Professional Centre in Heathfield, enrolling on an employability course at the Adult Training and Development Centre in Torquay, studying on a technical course at the Newton Abbot Campus, or even taking to the water with the South Devon College Marine Academy, there are now more opportunities than ever before.
Vice Principal, Corporate Services, Laurence Frewin, said: “This is a fantastic deal for the College, and most importantly, our students. It’s another significant step in removing barriers to learning and ensuring that young people and adults alike can access exceptional training and education to help them gain employment. The support of Stagecoach means that we can support more and more learners and help them achieve their goals.”
