South Devon College’s Business Advantage was crowned AAT Champion at the prestigious AAT Training Provider Awards 2016. This annual Award Ceremony celebrates the outstanding contributions of accountancy training providers worldwide.
The Award Ceremony is now in its third year and was held at the Hilton Birmingham Metropole. A panel of 4 judges considered a large number of nominees covering 13 categories in total. The AAT Champion award was introduced this year as a new category, open to every AAT training provider, to recognise those who have successfully demonstrated excellence in all areas of delivering AAT qualifications including; actively registering new students, providing exceptional customer service and helping students to progress in their journey to employment. South Devon College was nominated alongside Accountancy Learning, Kaplan Financial and Premier Training.
Martin Mackain-Bremner, Head of Assessment at AAT presented the award and said, “The winner’s application was laced with examples and testimonials. This extra detail highlighted the fantastic work they do to deliver AAT qualifications and take their students to the next level. Students talked in emphatic terms about how this training provider had launched and advanced their careers, going the extra mile to support them at every stage – in particular career changers. They are firmly embedded in their community and play an active role promoting AAT through a variety of events and media. They enjoy extensive employer relationships across the region – many of whom fed back on their excellent work. Their superb provision has gained accolades not just from students and employers but far and wide.”
Winning the AAT Champion award is further evidence of how Business Advantage is continuing to successfully build an esteemed reputation year on year; the team were nominated for Apprenticeship Training Provider in 2014 and won the AAT Large Training Provider of the Year 2015. This recognition proves their commitment to responding to the needs of local businesses and customer’s needs. The team have successfully created a professional and supportive learning environment, which allows students to develop the skills necessary to excel in a career in accountancy. Stephen Criddle, Principal of South Devon College said, “I’m delighted to see the really high quality delivery of the AAT qualifications supporting the needs of our local businesses and having a real impact on productivity and skills locally.”
