Website Creation and Development – Using WordPress Level 2
This 4-week introductory course on Website Creation and Development using WordPress will cover the essentials of building, customising, and managing websites on the WordPress platform. This course balances foundational knowledge with hands-on practice, ensuring participants not only understand how WordPress works but also build a complete and functional website.
This beginner-friendly course is designed to equip you with the essential skills and knowledge to build and manage your own website using the world’s most popular content management system, WordPress.
Over the course of 4 weeks, you will dive into the key aspects of website creation. You will start by covering the basics of WordPress, including installation, setup, and choosing themes. You’ll learn how to navigate the WordPress dashboard and understand the structure of WordPress sites.
You will also explore page-building techniques, such as adding content, images, videos, and using plugins to enhance functionality. You will also focus on customising your website, including theme adjustments, menus, and widgets to create a unique, user-friendly design.
Finally, you will cover essential maintenance practices like SEO basics, security, backups, and website performance optimisation.
By the end of this course, you will have developed the skills to create a fully functioning website tailored to your needs, and you’ll be confident in managing it going forward. If you are aged 16+ and live in or support residents in the TQ1 to TQ5 Torbay Council postcode area, then you may be eligible to have this course funded through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund (UKSPF). The staff at the College were so kind, supportive and helpful when I first met them.
