Understanding Autism Certificate (Online) Level 2
The Understanding Autism Certificate Level 2 is a fully-subsidised distance learning course that is aimed at those looking to understand more about autism. Perhaps you work with people, or have a family member with this diagnosis? The course will increase your understanding of autism and how best to support individuals.
To be awarded the Level 2 Certificate in Understanding Autism, learners are required to successfully complete 6 mandatory units:
Unit 01 Introduction to autism
Unit 02 Using a person-centred approach to support individuals with autism
Unit 03 Communication and social interaction in individuals with autism
Unit 04 Sensory processing, perception and cognition in individuals with autism
Unit 05 Supporting positive behaviour in individuals with autism
Unit 06 Supporting individuals with autism to live healthy and fulfilled lives
Successful completion of this course will help individuals to progress within employment in a variety of sectors, and in a number of job roles where an understanding of autism and knowledge of how to support people with autism is required.
You will learn independently on our online platform but with the support of a personal tutor. All course material and lessons are held on our online platform – you can access in your own time. There are no live lessons to attend.
This course will be fully subsidised for those who are over 19, have been resident in the UK for three years, with an exception of those who live within a devolved adult education area and those currently enrolled on an apprenticeship – please click here for more information.

I’ve recently completed my Level 5 HR Consultant Partner Apprenticeship at South Devon College and have enjoyed every minute! South Devon College has provided me with the tools and resources I needed to complete the course.
