Social Science Diploma Level 3
Social Science is a fascinating subject area that studies society and how and why people do the things they do. Subjects such as Psychology, Criminology, Mental Health, Counselling, Education & Sociology are studied within social science, with topics including the psychology of mental health, theories of crime, the impact of crime, psychological theories, sociological theories, developmental psychology, and theories of counselling, included in this level 3 course dependent upon the subjects you choose.
Students will choose to study 3 subjects out of the following options:
Psychology
Criminology
Sociology
Education
Mental Health
Counselling
This 2 year, level 3 course will provide students with a detailed knowledge in core topics within social science, providing them with the knowledge needed to progress either to university or into employment. This course is suitable for students who wish to work in careers such as policing, social work, counselling, psychology, education and many more areas, in the future. Please note, further study at university level will be needed to obtain employment within many of these careers.
At South Devon College, we offer a full progression route in Social Science from level 1, level 2 and 3, and also progression to university study at our University Centre. University Centre South Devon offers a range of degrees including Psychology and Criminology, Psychology and Counselling Skills and Education and Childhood. Many of our college students have progressed from our level 3 social science course, onto our degrees.
This course holds the same UCAS points as 3 A Levels which provides students with the opportunity to progress to university. Students will be fully supported by their personal tutor with their UCAS application for university.
Course Details
- You will need to have achieved a minimum of 2 GCSEs at grade 4(C) or above
- You will require 3 GCSEs at grade 5(B) and 2 GCSEs at grade 4(C) including English Language and Maths
