YMCA Personal Training Diploma

This course is part of the full qualification required to become a personal trainer. To fully qualify for the diploma you will have to pass and complete the following; Level 2 Fitness Instructor Theory, Level 2 Gym Instructor, Level 3 Programme and Delivery, Level 3 Anatomy and Physiology and Level 3 Nutrition Elements.

Once you have completed all five elements you can enter employment as a Personal Trainer in gyms, leisure centres, health and fitness clubs or as an independent freelance Personal Trainer. This course is offered at both South Devon College and Newton Abbot Leisure Centre.

The Level 2 units are as follows: anatomy and physiology for exercise, health, safety and welfare in a fitness environment, principles of exercise fitness and health, know how to support clients who take part in exercise and physical activity, planning gym-based exercise and Instructing gym-based exercise.

The Level 3 units are: advanced anatomy and physiology, applying the principles of nutrition to a physical activity programme, programming personal training with clients and delivering personal training.

Alongside the diploma you will also choose to complete two of the following awards:

Level 2 Chair Based Exercise
Level 2 Circuit Training
Level 2 Group Indoor Cycling
Level 3 Instructing Outdoor Fitness (Bootcamp)
Level 3 Adapting Exercise for Ante-Natal and Post-Natal Clients

As well as one of the following certificates:

Level 2 Instructing Water Based Exercise
Level 2 Exercise to Music Practical
Level 2 Instructing Exercise for Children
