Personal Training

This course is part of the full qualification required to become a personal trainer. To fully qualify for the diploma you will have to pass and complete the Level 2 fitness Instructor Theory, Level 2 Gym Instructor, Level 3 Programme and Delivery, Level 3 Anatomy and Physiology and the Level 3 Nutrition elements. Once you have completed all 5 elements you can enter employment as a Personal Trainer in gyms, leisure centres, health and fitness clubs or as an independent freelance Personal Trainer. This course is offered at both South Devon College and Newton Abbot Leisure Centre.

The units covered are:

Level 2 units;
1.Anatomy and physiology for exercise
2.Health, safety and welfare in a fitness environment
3.Principles of exercise fitness and health
4.Know how to support clients who take part in exercise and physical activity
5.Planning gym-based exercise
6.Instructing gym-based exercise

The Level 3 units are:

1. Advanced anatomy & physiology
2. Applying the principles of nutrition to a physical activity programme
3. Programming personal training with clients
4. Delivering personal training
