NCFE CACHE Counselling Skills Diploma Level 3
This qualification aims to provide you with in-depth knowledge of the use of counselling skills in everyday life and work, and the different theories and approaches that underpin the use of these skills.
This qualification is aimed at those who are looking to enhance their knowledge and skills for a variety of reasons. You may wish to study this diploma out of your own interest, to enhance your skills in a job you already have, or you might want to study this Level 3 to progress to the next stage of study to become a counsellor.
Please note, this qualification does not qualify you to become a counsellor but it can be used to progress to a Level 4 or above qualification that will qualify you.
You must be aged 16 or above to join this course.

Course Details
- You will be required to have achieved English at Level 2
- You will be required to have achieved Level 2 in a Counselling qualification and/or have experience of working effectively in a helping role
Humanistic approaches to counselling
Psychodynamic approaches to counselling
Cognitive Behavioural (CBT) approaches to counselling
Your own strengths and areas for development in counselling practice
The importance of working safely and ethically and considering equality and diversity in counselling practice
How to give and receive constructive feedback and develop new interpersonal skills
To be awarded the Level 3 Diploma in Counselling Skills, you are required to successfully complete 5 mandatory units:
Unit 01 Developing counselling skills
Unit 02 Theoretical approaches in the use of counselling skills
Unit 03 Working ethically with counselling skills
Unit 04 Counselling skills and diversity
Unit 05 Counselling skills and personal development

Many of our courses are fully funded for 16-18 year olds however not all courses are available for this age group.

Katy has worked in secondary schools (private and public), further education (FE) and higher education (HE) environments and is qualified with a PGCE in Secondary Physical Education, QTS and QTLS. She holds a Master’s in Education and is studying for her Professional Doctorate in Education with a specialism in outdoor education. She has taught for over 10 years and developed and managed FE and HE programmes with a wide range of experience teaching across a large range of levels.
