A Level Mathematics is the essential maths course for building on your GCSE understanding. A Level Mathematics opens doors into rewarding careers in many disciplines and offers insight into the power and beauty of mathematics. It is a qualification that will significantly enhance your profile with future employers and University admissions tutors. Studying A level maths also equips you with skills highly relevant to your other studies, particularly physical, biological and social sciences. You will learn through a balance of classroom sessions and independent study. Building on your prior knowledge you will apply algebraic and graphical techniques to develop your understanding of functions, calculus, trigonometry, sequences and series, exponentials and logarithms, numerical methods, statistics and finally, mechanics.
Please see the specific entry requirements for A Levels at South Devon College: 6 GCSEs at grade 4 (grade C) or above including English and maths. Of these, at least two passes must be at grade 6 or above. Individual subjects may specify which GCSEs are required at grade 6.
Studying A Level Law at South Devon College helped me decide what I wanted to do as a career, and therefore what I wanted to study at university. We benefited hugely from termly trips, and we even shadowed a judge, which gave me a huge insight into what my future career could entail. My teacher, Kay Harding, is excellent, and went above and beyond in helping me revise, improve exam technique and keep me up to date on current legal affairs. She was also great at giving me advice even outside of College time.Callum Priestley
