Human Biology (Cambridge Advanced National) Level 3
This exciting new qualification was designed with the help of employers and universities, and it complements traditional A Levels by further developing the transferrable and employment skills needed for successful progression. As an alternative academic qualification, it will carry the same UCAS points as traditional A Levels.
You will cover three units each year to give you a Certificate at the end of year 1 (equivalent to an AS qualification) and an Extended Certificate at the end of year 2 (equivalent to a full A level). In each year two units will be assessed by coursework and one by examination.
The units cover key biological topics, but these are delivered with an emphasis on practical work and vocational applications. The qualification is suitable for anyone wanting to progress to a biology degree, especially one within the Health and Healthcare Science sectors. Both these areas of employment have a growing need for qualified staff. You may have considered roles such as nurse or midwifery, but this link will give you information about Healthcare Science roles: https://www.healthcareers.nhs.uk/explore-roles/healthcare-science.

The staff at the College were so kind, supportive and helpful when I first met them. My peers had different abilities - some were already part of the fitness community, some were already personal trainers and the rest were beginners like me. It didn’t matter how new or how much experience you had. We all became a team and we all enhanced and supported each other’s experience. The Exercise to Music class gave me the confidence to understand how to support the participants, the confidence to stand in front of people, and support them all to do their best during training.
