Gas Engineering Apprenticeship Standard Level 3
The Level 3 Gas Engineering apprenticeship is for individuals who are currently working or want to work within the Gas Sector as a gas engineer.
You will develop and practise the skills required for employment in gas engineering such as relevant gas safety principles, installing and maintaining appliances such as gas cookers and central heating. On completion of the Level 3 Diploma in Gas Engineering qualification, you can apply for a Gas Safe ID card and appear on the Gas Safe Register for the relevant gas categories, allowing progression into employment as a gas engineer. In order to undertake this apprenticeship you must be working for a Gas Safe registered Gas Engineer.
You will be expected to attend College one day a week, during which you will learn the theory and practical elements required. You will be expected to demonstrate competence via onsite assessments and an eportfolio of evidence. Upon completion, you will be required to complete an end point assessment to gain the full apprenticeship standard.

Course Details
- You must have a GCSE Grade 4(C) in Maths
- You must have a GCSE Grade 4(C) in English
- You will be required to carry out an aptitude test
- You should have a genuine interest in this subject
Installing, commissioning, servicing and maintaining domestic plumbing and heating systems
Current Health, Safety and Environmental legislation and regulations applicable to work in the gas industry
Safe Gas and Electrical installation, commissioning, decommissioning and/or ongoing service and repair of gas installations
Relevant electrical/mechanical priciples and how they are applied in work processes and procedures
Energy efficiency advice and guidance Gas Safety (installation and use)
Regulations and the ‘Electricity at Work’ Regulations
This advanced apprenticeship in Plumbing and Heating will take three years to complete and when your apprentice has achieved the Level 3 Advanced Apprenticeship, they will gain domestic gas certification for Gas Safe registration, an Unvented Hot Water and Central Heating Systems Certificate and the Water Regulations Certificate.
