Chemistry A Level
Throughout this course you will discover the importance of research and experimentation in chemistry whilst working in our well-equipped laboratories, with fully qualified chemists who have industrial experience to support their teaching.
In Year 1 the focus is on the study of the foundations in chemistry, the periodic table, energy and core organic chemistry. In Year 2, you will develop your knowledge and understanding further in relation to physical chemistry, the transition elements, organic chemistry and analytical techniques.
Throughout the course, your practical skills will be developed to enable you to achieve the practical endorsement element of the qualification and to enable you to tackle questions in the final exams which have a practical base (around 15%).
There are a whole host of degrees and jobs that you could pursue with Chemistry as one of your A Level qualifications, such as: medicine, veterinary science, dentistry, pharmacy, pharmacology, forensic science, applied chemistry and chemical engineering.
University Centre South Devon offers foundation degrees in Biosciences and Animal Science, which would be suitable progression routes upon the completion of your studies.
