Award in Education and Training (AET) Level 3
The qualification aims to support you to reflect on your own previous/current levels of experience, practice and skills, and areas for development as well as identify principles of learning, teaching, assessment and evaluation. You will develop confidence, communication and interpersonal skills and develop an awareness of your professional role and responsibilities.
There are no formal entry requirements for this qualification, but you must be considering a subject for delivery and have a qualification in your subject/skill.
You should possess reasonable levels of literacy, numeracy and ICT skills.
Do I need to be teaching already?
A teaching placement is not required; the teaching element of the course is provided by the delivery of a micro teach.
What is the duration of the course?
The course is covered over 5 weeks with 3 hour taught sessions (face to face delivery) each week and an expected independent study of an additional 2 hours a week.
How will I be assessed?
Completion of assessment workbooks to be submitted online – instruction given in first session. Assessed micro teach for final assessment.

Debbie is very experienced in early years education having worked in the childcare industry, both in practice and management, for many years. She has a Level 4 qualification in Leadership and Management, Level 4 in Education and Training, and the A1 Assessing qualification. Most recently, she has completed the Level 5 Diploma in Education and Training. Debbie is the course manager for the adult’s level 3 Early Years Workforce programme, and assesses students in their work place to support competency and practical skills.
