Access to Higher Education Diploma (Science) Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry
The Access to Higher Education Diploma (Science) Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry (Pathway B) is for those returning to education.
This course is designed for those wishing to pursue a degree, and subsequent career, in the fields of engineering, physics, or chemistry. There is a national shortage of people trained in these areas, both in industry and in education. For instance, the government currently offers a tax free bursary of £25,000 to physicists willing to train as teachers. For this reason, the College is offering this pathway alongside the current fulltime or parttime Science Pathways covering Biology, Chemistry, and Applied Science, which is more suitable for progression to competitive Health Sector degrees, such as Midwifery, Paramedic, Dietetics, Physiotherapy, or to Biology degrees. It will be timetabled over two days although you will need time outside the classroom to complete assignments.
You may be able to apply for an Advanced Learner Loan to pay for your course fees which you will not need to repay if you progress to University and complete your degree.
It is desirable if you have a clear idea of the university course that you would like to apply for• Please check your Higher Education institute choice/s for their entry requirements
Both maths and English GCSE grade 4 (or equivalent) are required for all Access to HE Diplomas (exceptions will be considered if you do not need this criteria in order to progress to your selected Higher Education Institute)
The Diploma is accredited by AIM Qualifications and Assessment Group.
