AAT Bookkeeping Foundation Certificate Level 2
The Level 2 Certificate in Bookkeeping provides an entry point for anyone wishing to start a career in accountancy or finance. It may also support your career progression if you are already in employment by formally recognising your skills in manual bookkeeping.
Manual bookkeeping underpins all accountancy and finance roles. Studying this qualification will help you to develop a strong foundation of bookkeeping knowledge and skills needed to work in accountancy and finance or to go on to study higher-level bookkeeping or accountancy. Completing this qualification will teach you to confidently carry out typical bookkeeping transactions and tasks. You will also gain an understanding of how typical tasks are automated through use of accounting software.
This course introduces students to double entry accounting and how to enter transactions into the general ledger.
Course Details
- You will be required to have achieved Maths at Level 1
- You will be required to have achieved English at Level 1
- You should have a genuine interest in this subject
This qualification comprises two mandatory units:
Introduction to Bookkeeping
Principles of Bookkeeping Controls
You will also learn:
Invoice checking, credit note checking, delivery note format, statement on account, product coding
Trade discount, bulk discount, PPD, gross calculation, net calculation, VAT
How to classify assets, expenses, liabilities, income drawings, capital
Double entry in the general ledger, cash book, petty cash, sales ledger, purchase ledger control accounts
Journals, payroll, correction or errors, suspense account, trial balance, adjustments
Banking system, forms of payment, reconciliation of bank account, cash book updates, reconcile subsidiary ledgers, VAT control
