International Women in Engineering Day is an international awareness campaign to raise the profile of women in engineering and focuses attention on the amazing career opportunities available to girls in the exciting industry. It celebrates the outstanding achievements of women engineers throughout the world.
South Devon College invited girls from a number of secondary schools across Torbay to discover the possibilities within the Hi-Tech and Digital sector.
UCSD FdSc Illustration Arts alumni Flossy and Jim supported with the day’s activities. The pupils were able to try their hand at PLC programming, Cyber Security, Digital Media fun and more. There was a prize giving at the end of the day and some pupils won awards.
South Devon College will be opening the doors of the Hi-Tech and Digital Centre in 2019. The £17m leading edge project will provide a visionary centre for education and training to support the growing hi-tech manufacturing, digital and creative sectors in Torbay and surrounding area.
