Introduction to Coaching and Mentoring Professional Short Course

Introduction to Coaching and Mentoring Professional Short Course

This Level 4 Coaching and Mentoring Microcredit provides an introduction to the principles, theories and professional practice of coaching and mentoring within a structured and ethical framework. The course enables you to explore the roles and responsibilities of professional coaches and mentors, including the importance of ethical practice, professional boundaries and adherence to relevant codes of conduct and legislation. It also introduces a range of established coaching and mentoring theories, models, and techniques, supporting you to understand how these approaches inform effective professional conversations, developmental relationships and professional judgement.

Through a combination of guided input, discussion, scenario-based learning and practical application activities, you will examine key coaching and mentoring models such as GROW and CLEAR, alongside core communication and relationship-building skills including active listening, questioning, summarising, constructive feedback and the effective use of silence. You will also explore the similarities and differences between coaching and mentoring approaches, including directive and non-directive practice.

By the end of the course, you will be able to articulate key coaching and mentoring concepts, evaluate professional responsibilities and explain how coaching and mentoring theories and techniques can be applied appropriately within professional contexts.

Choose the study route that works best for you:

  • complete the full qualification in just 4 days, including an additional assessment day to gain accreditation

  • or attend a 3-day programme for a CPD-only option.

Whether you’re looking to achieve a recognised qualification or simply enhance your professional development, this flexible structure allows you to tailor the course to your goals and availability.

If you would like this course tailored specifically to your organisation, please get in touch. We would be happy to work with you to design a bespoke training programme that aligns with your goals, challenges and workforce needs.
