BA (Hons) Childhood and Youth Studies (Top-up)

BA (Hons) Childhood and Youth Studies (Top-up)

If you’ve completed a Foundation Degree in Education and Childhood, Working with Children, Young People and Families, the Diploma in Education and Training (DET), or a similar Level 5 qualification, the BA (Hons) Childhood and Youth Studies (Top-up) at University Centre South Devon allows you to build on your experience and graduate with a full Honours degree.

You will explore the complex and evolving nature of childhood and youth, developing a deeper understanding of how children and young people grow and thrive in today’s world. This multi-disciplinary course draws on psychology, sociology, education, welfare, politics and economics to help you evaluate how wider systems shape children’s development and family life.

Throughout the course, you’ll engage in collaborative seminar discussions and critical debate, helping you to apply theory to real-world practice. You will analyse key topics such as youth justice, children’s rights, social inequality, and ethical considerations in professional settings. Modules are carefully designed to reflect contemporary issues in the sector and to support your future ambitions, whether in education, social care, policy or further postgraduate study.

You’ll study in a supportive academic environment with experienced lecturers who bring practical insight and research expertise into every session.

Please note, this course does not confer Early Years Workforce status or a licence to practise in early years settings.
