This three day course provides an accessible introduction to the principles, tools and techniques of effective project management. It is designed for individuals new to project based work or seeking to formalise their knowledge.
Day one introduces core concepts including project lifecycles, roles, governance structures and the distinctions between projects, programmes and business as usual work. You will explore how to define project scope, objectives, deliverables and success criteria.
On day two, you will examine key planning tools such as Gantt charts, critical path analysis, risk registers, stakeholder analysis and resource planning. You will take part in practical exercises to develop a project plan, analyse project risks and identify key stakeholders and communication methods.
The final day focuses on project delivery, monitoring and evaluation. You will discuss change control, problem solving, team coordination, budgeting basics and how digital project management tools can support workflow. A final group simulation gives you the opportunity to apply your knowledge to a realistic project scenario.
By the end of the course, you will understand the foundations of project management and be able to contribute meaningfully to planning, delivery and review of workplace projects.
