There are various post results services available to you on GCSE results day, including:
- A Review of Marking– this involves the exam board reviewing their marking to ensure your work was marked accurately in line with the mark scheme.
- Clerical Re-check– this involves re-checks that all marks have been included and added up correctly.
- Review of moderation-this is when the coursework from your school/college is reviewed to ensure the marking was done fairly, reliably, and consistently.
- Access to scripts– you can request a scanned copy of your script; this can help you decide about a possible review of marking or help you with future learning/ resit attempts.
During a review of marking or clerical recheck, your original grade is not protected, this mean it can be lowered, stay the same or be raised.
Before any requests can be made you will be asked to sign a consent form.
More information about these post results services can be found here at JCQ-Post-Results-Services-2024.pdf.

I’m a second year student who I got better grades than I thought. Would I be able to get into a better university than I have an offer from?
In this case, you would need to go through the Clearing process and decline your firm choice offer place. You can see advice from UCAS here.

I’m a second year student and I didn’t get the grades I need for my university choice. Is university still an option?

Can I resit my exam if I am not happy with my result, or I want to see if I can improve it?
The Department for Education (DfE) has announced that there will only be an autumn exam series for GCSE English and maths.
I want to sit my GCSE English and/or maths exams in the autumn series – how do I do this?
If you are still studying English or maths GCSE with us and you’d like to try improving your grade in the autumn exam series, we will support you if your teachers think that you are ready for them.
Your English or maths teacher will talk to you about this. If you have left the College you will need to find a centre that can take you as a private candidate to resit the exams.
What happens if I get a worse grade when I resit my exam(s) in the autumn series?
You will keep the best grade you achieved.

The Awarding Body offer a number of post-results options, such as a review of marking but comes with a fee (if your grade changes the awarding body waives the fee). To discuss this and find out the fees set by your awarding body contact: [email protected]
