South Devon College is extremely proud to announce that one of its Roofing and Tiling students has reached the SkillBuild National Final 2024.
Jack Mayo, 21, from Warminster, representing West Country Tiling in Frome, is completing the Roof Slating and Tiling Apprenticeship at South Devon College and is a finalist after excelling in the Roof Slating and Tiling category during the South West Heat in April. He will showcase his talents against the very best in the final, which will take place at the Marshall Arena in Milton Keynes in November.
After over 1,000 registrations across 10 construction trades and 19 regional heats, Jack is in the top eight in his trade to compete at the SkillBuild National Final.
During the final, the competitors will need to construct a project created by a panel of judges, over three days, within an 18-hour time frame, testing their knowledge, skills and abilities in their chosen trade. The final will also highlight their ability to work under pressure within strict timelines whilst adhering to health and safety protocols.
