The ‘Making it Work’ event aims to provide our current and potential students with an insight into how the skills and experiences they gain while studying for their degree at University Centre South Devon (UCSD) can help them in their future career.

The event will open with a short introduction, followed by four guest talks from some of UCSD’s recent alumni who will speak about their university experiences and career journeys to date.

As the afternoon comes to a close, students and staff will have the opportunity to ask our guests questions in a short Q&A session followed by refreshments.

Recent alumni confirmed to speak at the event are:

Jess Lloyd
Jess completed the HNC in Sustainable Construction and the Built Environment before progressing to UWE Bristol to study BSc (Hons) Construction Project Management. Having graduated just this year with First-Class Honours and receiving three awards including the CIOB Certificate of Excellence for Outstanding Performance on the Programme, Jess is now working as a Graduate Project Manager at Mott MacDonald.

Barney Jones and Henry Bower
Barney and Henry both completed the Foundation Degree in Engineering Technologies in 2014, progressing to the University of Plymouth to study BSc (Hons) Mechanical Design and Manufacture.

Shortly after graduating in 2015, Henry joined Babcock International Group on their Mechanical Engineering Graduate Scheme. Graduating alongside Henry, Barney gained a First-Class Honours and has since been working locally as a Design Engineer at Investment Casting Systems Ltd.

Aaron Hussain
Aaron completed the Foundation Degree in Animal Science in 2013 before graduating from the BSc (Hons) Animal Conversation Science at the University of Plymouth in 2014. Aaron is now the Managing Director at Avalon International Academy and Creative and Technical Director at Sleight of Hand Theatre Company.

Annie Westcott
Following completion of the FdA Young People and Community Services in 2010, Annie progressed to University of Plymouth to study BSc (Hons) Criminology and Criminal Justice Studies. Graduating with First-Class Honours, Annie went on to complete her MSc in Social Research in 2015. Annie is now working as the Assistant Director of Operations and Development at YAZOO.
