Understanding the Principles of Dementia Care Certificate Level 3
This qualification enables you to develop knowledge and understanding of caring for individuals with dementia. Dementia is the name for a syndrome, or group of related symptoms, caused by the decline of brain function and affects 1 in 14 of those over the age of 65. This qualification can be used to support those working in or towards a dementia care role or for those caring for family members.
The course is 18 weeks in duration and has a blended delivery with resources and assessments online, as well as four classroom-based sessions with your tutor in college on Thursday mornings. In these sessions there will be additional information and potentially guest speakers. They also provide you the opportunity to see your tutor in person and visit Helpzone for career and course information, advice and guidance.
There’s great opportunity for progression here, which is why we are offering a guaranteed interview for Health Professions and Nursing degrees at University Centre South Devon, if you complete this course and have a grade C/4 or Functional Skills Level 2 in qualification in Maths and English Language.
If you are aged 19 and over you may have options to help fund your studies with us, particularly if this is your first full Level 3 qualification. The funding you receive depends on your personal circumstances and could mean that you are entitled to free or reduced course fees. You may also be entitled to support with travel, childcare and equipment.

“I really enjoyed studying Health and Social Care. You're treated as an adult at the College and the tutors get to know you on a personal level, they are really supportive and their knowledge is invaluable. I felt as though I grew as a person during my time there, which is so important."Caitlyn Crofts
