The Understanding Autism Certificate Level 3 is designed for those who are supporting (or wishing to support) those with autism. This is a classroom based course where you will have the support of a personal tutor and a network of peers. Perhaps you work with people, or have a family member with this diagnosis?
The course will increase your understanding of autism and provide you with techniques and strategies to support individuals. This course runs from September – July on a Thursday between 5pm – 7:15pm.

If you are aged 19 and over at the start of the course, you may have options to help fund your studies with us. The funding you can receive depends on your personal circumstances, and could mean you are entitled to fully subsidised or reduced tuition fees.
This course is fully funded for 16-18 year olds (if applicable to the course).
You may also be entitled to support with travel, childcare and equipment.

Jo has worked in the childcare industry for over 20 years, as a private nanny and a nursery manager, before attending university to train as a teacher. She specialises in Understanding Autism, and her teaching comes from current literature and her own story within this subject. Jo has also completed a Masters degree in Childhood and Early Years and her work on Forest Schools has been published in the International Journal of Play. She is a lecturer on the Early Years degree, a teacher in South Devon High School, and is the programme coordinator for the adult courses in Early Years, Autism and Forest School.Jo Button
