This course is ideal for you if you are planning to return to study on any course with Biology and/or Chemistry content but want to ease yourself back into education and refresh your study skills and knowledge. You could be planning to start a Level 3 course in 2018, such as an Access to HE Diploma or a BTEC qualification. It might even be useful if you have the right qualifications to start a degree programme but have been out of education for a while. You will practice using assignment briefs, so you can analyse exactly what the questions mean and check you have really answered them. You will improve your essay and report writing skills and learn how to research topics, reference correctly and avoid plagiarism. All this will be delivered in the context of the science topics you will study. The course will include practical sessions and some basic mathematics. Assessment is through course work assignments (no examinations). It is recommended that you already have, or are currently studying, GCSE English and Mathematics, although this will depend on your progression route. The course will run over two days (Monday and Wednesday, 9:30-16:00), starting on 8th January 2018.
