Protective Services Intermediate Level 2

There is no shortage of opportunities in this dynamic sector. If you’re interested in retail security, site guarding, door supervision, events security, or stewarding, then this is the course for you. Working in the security and events safety industry is all about communication and teamwork – you’ll be studying alongside people with similar interests and passions to you, forming a close-knit team as you progress through the course.

This can be a physical course where you have to get stuck in, but our friendly and supportive tutors will support you through every unit and help you develop as a confident professional. This fulltime (3 days per week) intermediate course will provide you with the knowledge, skills and experience needed to enter into the industry.

You will study various qualifications including Working as a Security Officer (SIA licence linked), NVQ level 2 in Spectator Safety, Personal Development for Employability and First Aid. You will undertake a large amount of work experience to make you job ready including at festivals, events and sports stadiums. You will also visit relevant organisations and plan and carry out fundraising activities.

Learning will take place through theoretical and practical study and assessment and you will have the benefit of guest lectures from external industry experts. Upon successful completion of the course, you could progress onto the advanced course, into employment or an apprenticeship.

Please note: prior to enrolment, you must have achieved a minimum of 4 GCSEs at grade 3 or above or are currently working towards these grades.

I chose South Devon College because of its brilliant reputation and chose this course because of the work experience opportunities it offered. It's great because we put the theory we learn into practise by working at large scale events such as music festivals, exhibitions and award ceremonies. My ambition is to work in this industry and I feel fully prepared for that having studied this course.Sam Palmer
