Protective Services Foundation

If you have the drive to help and protect people – if you’ve ever been interested in a career in the security services – then this is the course for you. This is an introductory course, designed to develop your communication skills, your confidence, and the essential skills you’ll need in all of these industries. The protective services rely on working as part of a team, so you’ll need to be comfortable working with others, as well as participating in outdoor activities.

This full time (3 days per week) foundation course offers an introduction into the security and event safety industry. You will study different qualifications all related to the industry including stewarding, terrorism awareness, conflict management, teamwork and leadership and first aid. You will also learn how to be more employable and work towards qualifications in personal development. You will also undertake work experience at events and have the opportunity to visit relevant organisations. Learning will take place through theoretical and practical study and assessment and you will have the benefit of guest lectures from external industry experts. You’ll be taught by tutors with years of experience in the security industry, who keep up-to-date with current industry standards and know exactly what employers are looking for. They’ll help you grow as a professional and show you how to make a career in this exciting, fast-growing industry, where every day holds a new challenge.

Upon successful completion of the course, you could progress onto the intermediate course, into employment or an apprenticeship.

Please note: prior to enrolment, you must have achieved a minimum of 4 GCSEs at grade 3 or above or are currently working towards these grades.
