This is a 35-week course, which takes place over three days per week. It’s based at Torbay Hospital and is open to 18-24-year olds.
The course is all about developing employability skills, with an internship at one of the local area’s biggest employers. Throughout the internship, you’ll be supported by specialist staff who can help you learn and develop.
You’ll have three 10-week placements within different departments of the hospital, gaining key employment skills in areas such as catering, administration, and gardening.
This course is part of our Supported Learning Opportunities curriculum, which offers a laddered progression route. This particular course is an internship, developing essential employability skills for students.
This course enjoys an excellent success rate – last year, 80% of the students involved progressed to paid employment.
“I was one of the first students to join the Internship Programme and gained work experience in different departments at Torbay Hospital. My experiences and the skills I learnt helped me then gain employment with the NHS at St Edmunds Community Care Support Centre.”Emily Bayly
