This course will help you build your confidence and get you ready for employment, giving you some of the key skills you’ll need to get a job. Being part of a team is really important to your working life, so you’ll get to know lots of different type of people as you learn how to work with others effectively. You’ll also look at your personal development, thinking about how you can continue to learn and grow.
This course has been designed to provide the key skills that will enable you to consider employment upon completion. The course focuses on essential skills, such as working within a team and personal development, to prepare students for employment. This course is part of our Supported Learning Opportunities curriculum, which offers a laddered progression route. This particular course focuses on skills for employment, while there are a variety of other courses that consider different (but equally important) life skills.
The courses we offer help students develop a sense of independence and nurture their personal development, as they add more and more skills they need in day-to-day life.
You will attend work placements and participate in classroom-based activities in small groups with curriculum support assistants and dedicated tutors.
“I was one of the first students to join the Internship Programme and gained work experience in different departments at Torbay Hospital. My experiences and the skills I learnt helped me then gain employment with the NHS at St Edmunds Community Care Support Centre.”Emily Bayly
