Preparing to Work to Care (Distance Learning)

The Level 2 Preparing to Care course is designed as a distance learning programme for people who are interested in working in care or who are looking for a care based qualification prior to further employment or study. The course will increase your understanding of what is it like to work in the care sector.

You will be sent the resources and materials in a pack to complete. The resources and materials will cover each topic in detail, allowing you to learn more care work. This allows you to complete the course flexibly and in the comfort of your own home. However, you are also welcome to use the College library at our Paignton campus.

Despite there being no formal classes, you will have the support of a tutor who can offer email tutorials. You will have approximately 12-16 weeks to complete your three assessment booklets. The suggested amount of time to work on this is approximately five to eight hours a week.

If you are aged 19 and over you may have options to help fund your studies with us. The funding you can receive depends on your personal circumstances, and could mean you are entitled to free or reduced course fees. You may also be entitled to support with travel, childcare and equipment. To find out exactly what you could receive, contact our Helpzone team on 08000 380 123 for a free, impartial appointment, with no commitment necessary.

Please note, you must be aged 19+ and have lived in the UK for the last 3 years.

“I really enjoyed studying Health and Social Care. You're treated as an adult at the College and the tutors get to know you on a personal level, they are really supportive and their knowledge is invaluable. I felt as though I grew as a person during my time there, which is so important."Caitlyn Crofts
