Preparing to Work in Adult Social Care Diploma (Distance Learning) Level 1

This distance learning course is the ideal opportunity for adults looking to retrain to get an insight into working in the care sector.You will be sent the resources and materials in a pack to complete over an eight week cycle. The course introduces you to topics such as communication awareness, skills and attitudes essential for working in the sector and the roles and responsibilities of the adult care worker.

The work books allow you to complete the course flexibly and in the comfort of your own home. However, you are also welcome to use the College library at our Paignton campus. The resources and materials will cover each topic in detail, allowing you to learn more about care work and the skills required to work in this sector. Despite there being no formal classes, you will have the support of a tutor who can offer email tutorials. The suggested amount of time to work on this is approximately five to eight hours a week.

If you are aged 19 and over at the start of the course, you may have options to help fund your studies with us. The funding you can receive depends on your personal circumstances, and could mean you are entitled to fully subsidised or reduced tuition fees.
