The Level 3 Gas Engineering apprenticeship is for individuals who are currently working or want to work within the Gas Sector as a gas engineer. It allows learners to develop the knowledge and practise the skills required for employment in the gas engineering industry.
Learners will develop and practise the skills required for employment in gas engineering such as relevant gas safety principles, installing and maintaining appliances such as gas cookers and central heating.
On completion of the Level 3 Diploma in Gas Engineering qualification, learners can apply for a Gas Safe ID card and appear on the Gas Safe Register for the relevant gas categories, allowing learners to progress into employment as a gas engineer.
In order to undertake this apprenticeship you must be working for a Gas Safe registered Gas Engineer. You will be expected to attend college one day a week, during which you will learn the theory and practical elements required. You will be expected to demonstrate competence via on-site assessments and an e-portfolio of evidence.
Upon completion, learners will be required to complete an end point assessment to gain the full apprenticeship standard.
My time at South Devon College really helped me excel and realise my potential in the construction industry. There are more options and career paths in construction than I first thought. I started as a carpentry apprentice and I am now training with my employer to become a Site Manager. It's a great industry to get into offering huge variety, and we have a lot of fun along the way too.Ricky Collyer
