The Level 3 Gas Engineering apprenticeship is for individuals who are currently working or want to work within the Gas Sector as a gas engineer. The apprentice will develop the knowledge and practise the skills required for employment in the gas engineering industry.
The apprentice will develop and practise the skills required for employment in gas engineering such as relevant gas safety principles, installing and maintaining appliances such as gas cookers and central heating.
On completion of the Level 3 Diploma in Gas Engineering qualification, the apprentice can apply for a Gas Safe ID card and appear on the Gas Safe Register for the relevant gas categories, allowing progression into employment as a gas engineer.
In order to undertake this apprenticeship you must be working for a Gas Safe registered Gas Engineer. You will be expected to attend college one day a week, during which you will learn the theory and practical elements required. You will be expected to demonstrate competence via on-site assessments and an e-portfolio of evidence.
Upon completion, learners will be required to complete an end point assessment to gain the full apprenticeship standard.
After completing my Level 3 BTEC in Software Development I went on to do a BSc (Hons) Cyber Security Management degree at Bournemouth University. During my first year I qualified for Cyber Security Challenge UK's end of year masterclass competition, where the top 42 contenders (of all ages) from around the country go head to head in a bid to be crowned cyber champion of the year. I also was selected to represent the UK in the European Cyber Security Challenge held in Malaga. I was the only girl to qualify for Team UK. Alongside these successes, I also spent the majority of the year competing in national ethical hacking competitions around the country with my university and attending cyber security camps hosted by Cyber Security Challenge UK.Sophia McCall
