Marine Biology and Wildlife

The course will provide you with an in-depth understanding of the marine environment and marine life such as starfish, seahorses and sharks. You will find out about the ecosystems and habitats where they live as well as being trained in the practical skills required to be successful in the marine industry.

You will be taught by experts in Marine Biology in our specialist facilities. There is plenty of practical work on the course which takes place around the coast so clothing suitable for working outdoors will be needed. You will undertake visits to beaches, fisheries, aquariums and freshwater habitats and have the opportunity to participate in an overseas trip. You will also have opportunities to go out on the boats at our Marine Academy where you may be able to spot seals, dolphins and porpoises. You will undertake your own research into a marine subject of your choice and help our resident researchers at College. The qualification is mainly assessed by coursework.

On completion you could move on to our Foundation Degree in Marine Science or into employment where there is a wide range of jobs available.
