Make a Cosy Beside Hooky Rug

If you enjoy crafts, hand-sewing and stitching you will enjoy this. It is a craft that you can pick up and get on with anywhere, in front of the TV, on the train or sat out in the garden as no electricity is needed. Make a stunning rug from next to nothing and at little expense. Use your old unwanted clothes, fabrics and wool, and rag-rug techniques. The process is very therapeutic and highly addictive. Most of all it is recycling and an inexpensive craft to do.
You will learn how to design your own original textile piece, putting colours and materials together for best effect and producing a beautiful and useful rug.
You will learn through demonstrations given to the group, one to one tuition, and group and individual guidance. There will be specialist reference books and actual rag rugs for you to look at. Internet research is encouraged so you can gain inspiration from other rag rug artists and their work.

"Having progressed from a Level 3 course in Games and Interactive Media at South Devon College, I knew that there were excellent facilities and levels of support. The fact that UCSD is local also meant I would save money by staying at home, which was really beneficial. The support of the tutors has helped me transition into university-level study, which has been very positive. I contributed to an employment and research scholarship, where we secured an Oculus Rift display, which I'll be using to simulate and test some of the 3D spaces I've created. When I complete my studies at UCSD I will go on to complete a top-up year, before entering employment. At the moment I'm planning on working as either a graphic designer or in 3D modelling using the skills I've learnt during my studies."Jack Gladman
