You will need to be passionate, motivated, organised and have a real interest in working in a people orientated industry, by developing a range of skills, techniques, personal qualities and attitudes essential for successful performance in working life.
Practical skills will be taught, developed and assessed in our specialist training kitchens and Horizons restaurant, which is open to the public. Lessons will involve practical demonstrations, theory, guest chefs and speakers, industry visits plus computer-based activities will contribute to your learning. A portfolio of practical assessments, under pinning knowledge will evidence achievement on the course. Everything on the course is designed to give you practical experience and build your employability skills in the industry. Learning from experienced chefs and cooks, this is the first step towards one of the most rewarding, dynamic careers you can imagine.
You’ll gain skills to work in a professional kitchen in a hotel, restaurant, school. This is an introductory course for anyone who wants to work in hospitality and catering, training you to prepare and cook food professionally.
