Indian Block Printing on Fabric at Newton Abbot

This course explores the art of printing using various methods. We will be using hand-carved Wooden blocks from India to create beautiful printed items such as tea towels, canvas bags, pin cushions and even clothing. We will also look at making our own printing blocks with unusual objects and try lino cut printing too. You will be learning skills and techniques that have been used for centuries and are still being used today to produce unique, hand crafted items that would cost a lot of money to buy. You will learn how to use the fabric paints correctly and how to mix colours and lay out a good design. You will see how to finish off your items, making them waterproof and wearable.
