IMI Inspection Accreditation Level 3

An Inspection Technician must be able to work unsupervised – ideally, they should be in full time employment with at least three years experience to ensure they are familiar with the techniques for vehicle servicing, inspection and system(s) diagnosis.

If you have not previously completed a Level 3 Light Vehicle qualification, this accreditation route satisfies the criteria to enrol on the IMI Level 2 MOT Testers qualification. MOT Testers qualifications are also available. IMI Accreditation is recognition of the current competence of professionals working in the Retail Motor Industry and their commitment to an ethical Code of Conduct.

It is governed by the Institute of the Motor Industry (IMI), the professional association and Sector Skills Council for the Retail Motor Industry. The route content and structures are constantly reviewed to ensure that they remain current and support skills needs in the sector.

In order to achieve IMI Accreditation, you are required to pass a series of practical skills and knowledge modules at an approved IMI centre. You must agree to and abide by the IMI Code of Conduct. To maintain your accreditation and prove current competence, you should be reassessed every three years.
