Access to Higher Education Diploma: Humanities and Education

The Access to Higher Education Diploma course is for adults (19+) returning to education. This pathway is perfect for those aiming to pursue new careers in a multitude of sectors, including education (primary, secondary, and post-compulsory), journalism, the heritage sector, the civil service, and many more areas. Students study four distinct subjects: Literary Studies, History, Sociology, and Study Skills. Over the course of the year learners will develop the skills necessary to progress onto university study. Past students have progressed to a multitude of different degrees, ranging from History, English Literature, and Social Sciences, as well as more specialist pathways (for example Theatre Studies, Events Management, and Korean Studies).

• It is desirable if you have a clear idea of the university course that you would like to apply for.
• Please check your HE institute choice/s for their entry requirements.
• Both maths and English GCSE grade 4 (or equivalent) are required for all Access Diplomas. (Exceptions will be considered, should the Higher Education Institute that you wish to attend does not require maths or English.)

What will I learn?

"The course was local and exactly what I needed to further my career. When I opened my results I felt so happy and very proud of myself, gaining a first was a result of both the hard work and the guidance I received from the course team. I can now fulfil my ambition of opening a kindergarten abroad."Ben Steadman
