This qualification is ideal if you want to develop your horticulture skills to be a more senior worker or manager working in gardening or grounds keeping. You’ll gain in-depth insight into the techniques and science of horticulture. You will cover plant and soil science, propagation, creating displays, amenity turf management, organic crop production and carry out a project. You’ll also gain plenty of practical experience in a variety of skills, from maintaining different types of turf to pruning shrubs and trees. You will undertake a work placement which we will support you with. Much of the work will be undertaken outdoors in our well-equipped Horticulture Unit so suitable clothing and footwear is essential. The course will run for 3 days per week. For entry, you need to have 4 GCSEs grade C or above or a relevant L2 vocational qualification.
