This course is ideal if you’re looking to develop your horticulture skills to be a more senior worker or manager working in gardening or grounds keeping.
You will gain an in-depth insight into the techniques and science of horticulture. You will also cover plant and soil science, propagation, creating displays, amenity turf management, organic crop production and carry out a project. This course will provide you with plenty of practical experience in a variety of skills, from maintaining different types of turf to pruning shrubs and trees.
You will undertake a work placement selected and supported by your tutor to put your knowledge into practice. Much of the work will be undertaken outdoors in our well-equipped Horticulture Unit so suitable clothing and footwear is essential. The course will run for three days per week.
“Having seen the facilities and met with the team, I was really excited to start my course. I’ve learnt so much in my time here, using specialist equipment and creating and maintaining our own garden. I can’t wait to progress and take my skills into employment.”Jamie Williams
