This course is suitable if you would like to enhance your personal listening and responding skills, whether at work or in a personal capacity. The qualification gives you the
opportunity to develop the skills needed to communicate effectively, and to engage in a one-to-one helping relationship appropriately. You will consider the variety of contexts and settings in which helping skills can be used, for example within coaching and mentoring, social care, youth and community work, early years and counselling.
The course is classroom based and each session runs for 3 hours each week for 13 weeks. You will also need to allow time for research, reading and writing at home and you willl create a portfolio for your work which will be assessed by the tutor.
"When I attended an Open Evening at the University Centre South Devon I was initially unsure which direction I wanted to take. When I spoke to a tutor about my goals, strengths and weaknesses, they guided me to a degree in business and management and I never looked back."Charlotte McGowan
