This course is suitable if you would like to enhance your personal listening and responding skills at work or in a personal capacity. The NCFE Helping Skills Award will give you the opportunity to develop the skills needed to communicate effectively, and to engage in a one-to-one helping relationship appropriately.
You will consider the variety of contexts and settings in which helping skills can be used, for example within coaching and mentoring, social care, youth and community work, early years and counselling.
The course is classroom based and each session runs for 3 hours each week for 13 weeks. You will also need to allow time for research, reading and writing at home. You will create a portfolio for your work which will be assessed by the tutor.
“I really enjoyed studying Health and Social Care. You're treated as an adult at the College and the tutors get to know you on a personal level, they are really supportive and their knowledge is invaluable. I felt as though I grew as a person during my time there, which is so important."Caitlyn Crofts
