This role is an essential element of health care provision within both the National Health Service and the wider health care workforce. Healthcare support workers work directly with patients and users of services in a range of health and care settings including hospitals, residential and nursing homes, clinics and patients own homes.
A range of units may be introduced and assessed as part of the programme making links to the apprenticeship standards for a Healthcare Support Worker.
You will be required to work a minimum of 30 hours per week and be provide with 6 hours per week to support your training and development needs.
You will train on the job and gain additional qualification including the care certificate to support your development. A qualified assessor will support your development once a month as pre-arranged with your employer.
You will undertake a final assessment with an independent assessor who will grade your apprenticeship achievement as pass, merit or distinction. On successful completion of this apprenticeship, you could progress into a senior role and complete a Level 3 apprenticeship.
