Health and Social Care First Certificate/Diploma Care Academy Level 2

The Health and Social Care Level 2 Certificate is a one year course that is delivered using the fantastic facilities at our Paignton Campus. The course is designed to develop your knowledge and skills in relation to a career in the Health and Social Care sector.

You will learn about topics such as anatomy and physiology while developing new skills for your career. This programme is assessed through written work, presentations and poster tasks, as well as two written exams.

You will attend the College for three days a week whilst gaining valuable practical experience during a vocational placement in the local area, giving you an insight into the industry. You will need GCSE Maths and English grade 3.

This is the perfect course to develop more advanced skills before you begin to specialise in a particular career. It will help prepare you for clinical pathways, such as nursing or midwifery, as well as social care pathways like social care or support work.

On completion of the Level 2 course, there are three routes open to you. The Level 2 Diploma in Care will continue to develop sector related skills, the apprenticeship in Health and Social Care with an employer or progression to the Level 3 Extended Diploma. The most important point is that occupationally knowledgeable and competent staff will support you with choosing which route is best for you.

“I really enjoyed studying Health and Social Care. You're treated as an adult at the College and the tutors get to know you on a personal level, they are really supportive and their knowledge is invaluable. I felt as though I grew as a person during my time there, which is so important."Caitlyn Crofts
